It is their first album since the release of A Matter of Life and Death in 2006, the longest gap to date between two consecutive Iron Maiden studio albums.

WatchTower is an American progressive metal band based in Austin, Texas. The band were influenced by late 70s progressive rock and acts such as Rush and UK as well as the burgeoning New Wave of British Heavy Metal. While Watchtower never reached mainstream access, they have been cited as an influence by other progressive metal bands such as: Dream Theater, Death, Atheist, Sieges Even and Spiral Architect.
